For those of you who subscribe to this blog, at one point or another you’ve probably heard me talk about a short documentary I shot a few years ago about tattooing. I’d done it while taking video production but with the ulterior motive of having a piece to show in my classes to talk about the creative process and issues of identity and mediation. Oh, and I shot this with my writing partner and colleague, Dr. Rhonda Dass, who happens to also be a pretty terrific artist and tattooist.
I finally found some time a couple of weeks ago to edit it down a bit more to my liking (read: I cleaned out some of the egregious things in it that made me cringe every time I showed it to a class) – which was, incidentally, a lot less time than I expected it to take. My interviewee and collaborator has formally approved it, so here it is, linked on my YouTube page for your enjoyment and edification. And when I get around to finding the original timeline I will eventually clean up the closing credits… Someday in my copious free time.
